Objectives: Test air raid warning systems and communication links with the Indian Air Force. Evaluate control rooms, shadow control rooms, and Civil Defence services (wardens, firefighting, rescue, depot management). Train civilians & students on protective measures during hostile attacks. India will conduct a nationwide civil defence mock drill on May 7 across 244 districts amid rising India-Pakistan tensions. The drill will test air raid sirens, blackout procedures, and emergency response systems to boost preparedness for complex threats. A civil defence mock drill is a planned simulation of emergency scenarios — such as an aerial attack or missile strike — to test public and administrative readiness. Amid rising tensions with Pakistan, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Monday directed several states to carry out mock drills on Wednesday. These drills will involve activating air-raid warning sirens and training civilians in civil defence measures for protection during a ‘hostile attack’.
