Hyperopia , commonly known as farsightedness, occurs when distant objects appear clearer than nearby objects. Symptoms include difficulty focusing on close objects, eyestrain, headaches, and blurred vision, especially during tasks requiring close attention. Total hypermetropia : It is the total amount of hyperopia which is obtained after complete relaxation of accommodation using cycloplegics like atropine. Latent hyperopia: It is the amount of hyperopia normally corrected by ciliary tone (approximately 1 diopter). Hypermetropia means long-sightedness . It is an eye condition were you can see objects far away but not up close. It is caused by a refractive error. Farsightedness is an eye focusing disorder, not an eye disease. What Causes Farsightedness? To see clearly, light rays must travel through the front of the eye (the cornea and lens). The cornea and lens work together to bend the light so it lands on the back layer of the eye, called the retina.
