The last date for the filing of Income Tax Returns ( ITR ) for the financial year 2024-25 (Assessment Year 2025-26) has been extended. Deposit tax without penalty: The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has extended the last date to file income tax return from July 31, 2025, to September 15, 2025, for the financial year 2024-25. In the past, CBDT has asked the taxpayers to deposit self-assessment tax by July 31, even though the ITR filing deadline has been extended. The Income Tax Department is again extending the ITR filing deadline from October 31 to December 10 for the AY 2025-26.
