Mumtaj begum: Mumtaz Mahal

Mumtaz Mahal, originally named Arjumand Banu Begum, was a Persian noblewoman who became the chief consort of Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan . Known for her beauty and intelligence, she played a pivotal role in the Mughal court and was deeply loved by Shah Jahan. Claim: The photo is of Shah Jahan’s wife, Mumtaz Mahal. Fact: The woman in the photograph is actually Shah Jahan Begum , the third Begum of Bhopal. Hence, the claim made in the post is False. To verify the authenticity of the viral claim, we first conducted a reverse image search on the circulating photograph. This search led us to the Royal Collection Trust’s website, where the same photo is listed. Her mother, Diwanji Begum , also hailed from an aristocratic lineage, being the daughter of Khwaja Ghias-ud-din of Qazvin. Mumtaz Mahal was the niece of Empress Nur Jahan, the chief consort of Emperor Jahangir, making her an integral part of the Mughal imperial family. Mumtaz Mahal Arjumand Banu Begum , also called Mumtaz Mahal (27 April 1593 – 17 June 1631) [1] was the second wife of Shah Jahan, the Mughal emperor. Mumtaz Mahal (meaning Jewel of the palace in Persian) was the nickname her husband gave to her. [source?]
