The extra traction I presume is due to the rubber being stretched so much that it's "pores" are opened so a rough-ish surface is in contact with rails. Have any editions of Traction magazine included major articles on aggregates rail traffic? It has had recent features on some railfreight including coal and petroleum, but not stone, gravel, sand, etc, but apologies if I have missed such coverage.
