ABOUT DISTRICT COURT The origin of Fazilka dates back to 1844 CE. After the Amritsar Treaty of 1809, the East India Company sought permission from Maharaja Ranjit Singh to install a boat pier on Sutlej River at Ferozepur to reach Karachi Port. The request was declined and the Company commissioned an officer Mr. Patrick Vans Alexander Agnew to discover a site for the boat pier, downstream of Ferozepur. He discovered the horseshoe shaped freshwater Lake ‘Badha’ and established a camp on ... Fazilka is situated near the India-Pakistan border and serves as the headquarters of the Fazilka district. The town is known for its rich agricultural produce, particularly rice and cotton, and was once a major wool trading center before the partition of India. Fazilka is also home to the second tallest TV tower in Asia, standing at 305 meters. The Fazilka clock tower has great historical interest and it is well worth the effort to visit. We loved the building and there is a definite atmosphere there! Official website of Punjab Tourism, Government of Punjab. Located on the north-western edge of India.
