The Gudibande fort , which is small compared to other forts in Karnataka, was inspired by the Madhugiri fortress. It is a multi-level edifice that was built about 400 years ago, in the 17th century, by Byre Gowda, a local chieftain of Gudibande who ruled the place for only three years. We recently visited Gudibande Fort , and it turned out to be one of the most refreshing and enjoyable short treks we've done. What makes this place truly special is that it hasn’t been commercialized yet, which keeps the experience peaceful and authentic. Gudibande Fort is deeply rooted in history and is over 400 years old. It was built during the reign of Byre Gowda, a local chief who was said to have been inspired by the Madakari Nayakas of Chitradurga. It is known for its vast water management system and its strategic location. Gudibande was built by local chieftain Byre Gowda, and this fort served as a watch tower back then. Its unique Indo-Islamic architecture includes a Shiva temple and 19 water tanks carved into rock.
